About Us

Venkitathevar Siva Kshetram situated in eastern side of Manavedaraja road, Kotakkal, Malappuram is an important Siva temple among old Siva temples in Kerala.  Even though there is no evidence but can be understood from the historic records that it is centuries old temple.

This "swayam bhoo prathishta" is related to a saint who was a Siva devotee during 'Dwapara Yuga'.  As per his request Loard Siva agreed to be present in this area for confirming the wellness of the people in this area.  As per the advice of expert astrologers after digging they found "Siva Linga" and enshrine the same.

During 18 century, Samoothiri Raja stayed in Venkitakotta and this Temple came under Samoothiri Raja family.  As per the order of Kittunni thamburan, the son of Manorama Thamburatty of famous Kizhakke Covilakam, under Kallar Namboothirippad done 'Kalasham' and started Utsav on Thiruvathira in the month Kumbha.

Sree Ganapathy, Sree Ayyappa and Sree partvathy are the upa devatas.

The Murals done in the year 1878 as per the order of "Makeeryam thirunnal Eralpad Thampuran" are very atractive in this temple.

Another speciality is the big ponds on both sides of eastern way that always maintain the availability of water in this area.

This temple is managed by Kizhakke Covilakam Trust of Kozhikode Samoothiri Raja family.

Main offerings are "Chathussatham", "Dhaara" and "Chandanam Charth"
